Air Oku is an ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) based in Japan. The airline operates a small but growing network of domestic routes using a fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with its main hub at Chubu Centrair International Airport in Aichi Prefecture. The carrier is known for its minimalist branding, affordability, and focus on connecting travelers to lesser-known or “hidden” regions of Japan—echoing the meaning of its name, "Oku", which refers to inner or remote areas.

History
Air Oku was established with the aim of offering affordable air travel to under-served destinations within Japan. The airline launched operations in 2024 with a focus on regional connectivity and no-frills service. Drawing inspiration from successful Japanese LCCs like Peach Aviation and Jetstar Japan, Air Oku adopted an ultra-low-cost model emphasizing low base fares, optional add-ons, and high aircraft utilization.

From its inception, Air Oku positioned itself as a modern, digital-first airline with a simplified booking process, mobile-first customer service, and a light operational footprint.

Corporate Affairs
Air Oku is a privately held company. It has partnered with Uniadex, a Japanese IT solutions provider, to develop its cloud-based operations platform, including ticketing systems, mobile app infrastructure, and data analytics tools.

Destinations
As of 2025, Air Oku operates domestic routes from Chubu Centrair International Airport to several regional airports across Japan. Its initial focus has been on connecting central Japan with less-trafficked destinations in the Tohoku, Hokuriku, and Shikoku regions.
