Air Occitanie [OC/OYC/OCCITANIE; 1989-2002]

GENERAL:

Air Occitanie was a small French Regional Airline, headquartered at Montpellier. It offered ACMI leasing flights for its fleet of ATR aircraft and also flew, at its demise, to destinations in France, Corsica, Spain, Denmark, UK, Ireland, The Netherlands and Belgium, as well as offering charters to other destinations. The airline had bases in Montpellier, Toulouse, Nantes, Bordeaux, Nice and Marseille

HISTORY:

Air Occitanie was founded in early 1989. It planned on connecting destinations in Occitanie (Southern France) to the rest of France. It acquired 2 ATR 72-200s (-500 in this game) and started operating services from Montpellier and Marseille to other French destinations (namely Ajaccio, Paris, Nantes, Pau and Brest).

In 1991, a new holding for the airline was created (Occitanie Holding Corp.). The airline added more destinations to its network (Calvi, Rennes, Lorient, Caen etc) and even opened up a new base in Nice. The airline also acquired 1 ATR 42-200 and another 3 ATR 72-200, rounding up its fleet to 6 aircraft.

However, in 1993, a big change would take place at the airline. It would start operating international flights to and from Paris Orly, namely, to Jersey and Guernsey.
